-- ADOPTION PROCESS --

Have you fallen in love with one of our adoptable dogs? Here’s what you need to do to bring your new family member home:

Complete our Adoption Application

This basic application will help us match you with the perfect dog. You can find our adoption application online  HERE

Two Interviews

These in-person or phone interviews will allow you to ask questions and get to know us better. You will be talking to the foster parent to get a better understanding of the dog you are interested in, and you will talk to another volunteer in the second phone interview so we can gain some more information about you and your family. We want to make sure that you will get the right pup for your family and your lifestyle. We can also elaborate on any concerns you may have about bringing a dog home and we can help you through any trouble spots.

Home Visit

A simple home visit will ensure that your new dog will be happy and safe. It will also give you the opportunity to ask questions or to discuss any concerns..

Sign the Adoption Contract

Once you are approved to adopt your dog you will sign an adoption contract.

Our Requirements

While we don’t require that every home have a fenced-in yard, we do have a few requirements for our adopters:

  • We strongly suggest that homeowners should have homeowners insurance that covers pit bull breeds and live in an area where there are no restrictions on owning a pit bull type dog.
  • Renters must have approval by their landlord that pit bull type dogs are permitted to live on the property
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age
  • Puppies have to be altered, fully vaccinated and at least 12 weeks of age before they can be go to their forever home
  • Puppies  (0 - 12 months) are required to attend daycare at least twice a week so the puppies continue to learn to respect and properly interact with other animals (proof of registration required)
  • All resident animals (including cats) must be introduced to our dog to make sure they all get along
  • All resident pets must be spayed or neutered unless it is not recommended by a veterinarian for medical reasons, must be up to date on vaccinations and on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives
  • Every dog owner is required to sign up and attend a positive reinforcement obedience class within 90 days of adoption and provide proof to Pibbles 4 HOPE that the course was completed - We love to celebrate our Success Stories and their achievements

Fees

The adoption fee for each dog is listed on their bio page, however, in general our adoption fees are:

  • $350 for puppies 3-6 months
  • $250 for puppies 6-12 months
  • $200 for adult dogs
  • $150 for senior dogs
  • $150 for shelter dogs

All dogs will be spayed/neutered, micro chipped, and fully vaccinated before the adoption can be completed. If you adopt a shelter dog with medical problems it will be addressed and treated at the expense of Pibbles 4 HOPE before the adoption can be completed. Any additional required treatments or medications after the adoption is complete will have to be carried by the adopter.

If you have any questions about the adoption application, or our adoption process, don’t hesitate to contact us at Pibbles4HOPE@gmail.com.
